Arrowtown Artist - Caryl Watts

Born in Auckland, I moved away from city life around age 40 to follow my belated dream of living in a rural part of N.Z.  I now divide my time between Whangaroa in the Far North and Arrowtown in the deep South and feel incredibly fortunate to be able to focus on what I love doing most - painting.  I feel a great sense of achievement when my works are appreciated and shared with other like minded people.

To capture the essence of the form in my works I use visual, sensual and emotional thoughts and feelings.  I have been invited to exhibit my art regularly over the years which has resulted in many sales along with commissions.  Watercolour, charcoal, pastel and pencil are my favoured mediums as they allow me to express freely momentary energy.

In 2004 I studied for and gained a Bachelor of Visual Arts diploma.  Prior to that I satisfied my creative needs by establishing and running a ceramic factory in Kerikeri employing up to eight staff for five years then sold the business to concentrate solely on my painting.
